Oxford CAMRA:
Pubs in Time at the Eagle and Child

22nd February 2006

As part of the celebration of National Pubs Week, the Eagle and Child in Oxford was awarded a "Pubs in Time" plaque by CAMRA, commemorating the fact that the group of writers known as "the Inklings" (C.S. Lewis, J.R.R Tolkien, Charles Williams and others) met regularly in the pub.

Pubs in Time is a project to commemorate, record and promote important events and significant figures associated with British Pubs. The Eagle and Child is one of only 14 pubs nationally which have been choosen for the first round of awards.

The presentation took place at a social event at the pub (map) on Wednesday 22nd February. Thanks very much to Corrie Jones and his staff for their hospitality, and to everyone who came along to support the event.
